I've been in the entertainment industry for going on over 20 years now. It gave me opportunities to meet and work with unique people who were way more talented than I ever was/am. I learned so much, but the biggest thing I learned was how to be observant and ask the question, 'why'. It was a question one should be thoughtful enough not to ask. So, I would ask myself, how is it that amazing, original - 'one in a million' people can be so talented and capable but come short of the ambitious goal they set out to accomplish? Through observation over the years I was able to come closer to a satisfactory answer.
In entertainment one is always surrounded by an overload of ideas, influences and people with opinions. It can appear like the battles and conflicts occur on the outside, but the true battle is within. Everybody has emotion, insecurities, worries, doubts, fears ... etc. Entertainment plays on all of those. As a matter of fact entertainment is so fluid it can make one think they're loosing a grip on it. It brings more truth to what Method man rapped, 'MOVING ON YOUR LEFT' lol. It's when the entertainment industry brain fucks the hell out of you!
I've seen talented people who were friends separate and walk away from each other and their businesses, let haters get the best of them ... I've seen jealousy be the enemy of person it's emanating from. Jealousy is typically defined as an emotional response to the threat of losing something considered to be of value. I've also watched people clutch and hold tight to arts they think everybody wants, but nobody really wants lol.
Look, talent is the bedrock of entertainment but survival always tells the story. Most talented people get brain fucked but getting brain fucked doesn't define one, it's only when one acts on emotion is when one can looks crazy.
So how do we stay focused? How do we make progress? How do we make that dream reality? How do we reach that stage or goal for the world to see what lies within? Well, stop getting brain fucked lol. Too many people in the entertainment business operate in entertainment like they're sitting on their couch watching tv. Watching, watching and watching. Entertainment is a focus with a little bit of adjustments and shifts along the way. Finish what you start. Be stern without being a dick. Be smart instead of emotional because most things that happen in the world have nothing to do with you, you decide what triggers you and what doesn't. Stop letting entertainment brain fuck the sh** outta you!
